Steven Fletcher out of Scotland squad to face Czech Republic
Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher will miss Scotland’s friendly against the Czech Republic after withdrawing from the squad with illness.
The on-loan Marseille forward is the second forward to pull out, after Norwich City forward Steven Naismith withdrew with a hamstring injury this week.
That leaves just Ross McCormack and Tony Watt as the Saltires sole strikers, with Leigh Griffiths also missing the game through injury.
While that’s bad news in a sense for the Scots, one can’t help but feel this game is a lot more important for the Czechs – with the Eastern Europeans having qualified for Euro 2016 and the British outfit not.
